Prepare yourself for academic success......

You likely expect that your experiences in college classes will be different, as compared to high school.  How can you effectively prepare?

STUDY STRATEGIES
Studying may seem so basic, but your skills in this area are core components to your academic progress.  How will you adjust for college-level coursework?  Student Academic Success Services can provide a pivotal advice through workshops, classes, appointments, and online resources.  Strong strategies for reading, note-taking, writing, and test-taking will assist you throughout college.

TIME

You are given 168 hours each week!  How do you make the most of your time, academically and personally?  Try the time log (below) for a week or more, and then re-evaluate and re-affirm priorities in your schedule.  At the beginning of each semester, carefully read the syllabus from each class to plan for assignments by week and month.  If you notice any scheduling issues – talk to your adviser right away.

TUTORING
For any concerns with what you’re learning, it is to your advantage to contact someone early!  See you instructor or TA, during office hours or before/after class.  Go for tutoring, during walk-ins or an appointment.  Talk to your adviser.  It’s an educated choice!
