6 Weeks To Go: Health
Career Information July 21, 2008
For future doctors, dentists, vets, OT's, PT's, etc.....
Students do not have to major in a science-based
discipline
to seek admission to a health science professional program like
medicine,
occupational therapy, physical therapy, or public health, to name just
a few. Students who major in one of the fields housed in the Society
and Culture student community are
well prepared to enter into any health profession program and career.
With a
little timely planning, these students can complete program
prerequisites while
earning an undergraduate degree in the College of Liberal Arts.
For information on pre-health careers programming offered at
the University of
Minnesota, go to these
websites:
Health
Careers Center
(http://www.healthcareers.umn.edu/)
Prerequisite Planning sheets for the health sciences (http://hns.class.umn.edu/health_science_programs/)
Successful candidates to these professional programs attend
the informational meetings offered and meet with advisers on a regular basis to
discuss courses, volunteer activities, and strategies for getting effective
letters of evaluation.
Start your preparation early!
Next week, find out strategies for learning about all sorts
of other career opportunities.
